When designing a web page, any helping hand comes in handy if it saves you the time you'd normally spend code writing. Deluxe Menu won't do everything for you, but when it comes to creating menus or similar interfaces, it can be a valuable tool.

The package you need to download is almost 6 Mb large. The installation wizard gets straight to the point and won't make you go through too many steps. The installation process itself is not exactly instantaneous. You will need to wait a minute or two, even on a higher end machine.

The interface is so loaded with options that one more check box would probably make it collapse. Even so, it's still easy to understand and use. Creating a menu is done on the central area of the main window. Here you can create a tree like structure using just a few of the buttons like Add item or Add sub-item, found on the toolbar. Beneath this structure you'll be able to see an interactive preview of the menu.

You can customize mostly any aspect of your menu. That's why the interface is so loaded. All settings are organized in a long parameters list on the left side of the window. You can find categories such as Font, Positioning, Appearance and a lot more. Clicking one of them will make small menus drop down where you can do your settings via buttons and dialog boxes. For individual menu items, you can find other parameters that you can change on the far right side of the window.

If all these settings prove to be too much to keep track of, you can load one of many templates. Just hit the Templates button from the toolbar and chose one from the window that will show up. You can find templates for iPhone menus, Windows classic or Vista menus and other samples. You may not find what you are looking for, but it's still better than starting from scratch.

A great feature of the program is that you don't need to know too much about code writing, or at least you'll be spared from the actual writing. You can use Deluxe Menu to generate search engine-friendly code for your menu items by simply clicking on a button from the toolbar. This will automatically generate the code. You can also create a Google XML site map exactly the same way. Once you see the window with all the codes, you can just save it as a file on your hard drive.

Besides menus, you can also create tabs, CSS and tree menus or popup windows. This is done the same way as the menus, but the preview will look different. Just go to File and click "Select menu type" and you can choose one from a small window. This will also show up when you run the program.

Pros

Deluxe Menu's many features let you create and customize your web interface however you want. Its interface makes this flexible and easy.

Cons

Besides the fact that you'll need some time to get your head around all options, there are no real drawbacks to this program. Deluxe Menu is the ideal tool for creating web interfaces. You can make them look however you want without writing a single line of code.
